The beginning
A silent vendor’s ice cream becomes popular with local children. Jared avoids it and sees those who ate it fall into a trance.
The conflict
The affected children attack adults. Jared and friends escape school and meet his sister Lizzie and Chris at a church.
The turning point
A priest explains that the vendor is Jonathan Smiley, a man falsely convicted decades earlier. He says a necromancer gave Jonathan a chance to seek revenge.
A choice
The priest tells the group that destroying figures in an unmarked grave will stop the threat. Jared and Lizzie reach the grave as their friends are overwhelmed.
The ending
The figures are actually their parents, and the priest is the necromancer who tricked them. Jonathan leaves the devastated town with the controlled children; Jared and Lizzie are left with the truth.
